Access to the Cowley Road Carnival
Costs of organising and managing The Cowley Road Carnival are around £150,000. We are asking all Carnivalgoers to pay £1 towards the costs to secure the future of this fabulous event.
The Carnival can be accessed at either end of the Cowley Road closure area, at the junction with Magdalen Road and at The Plain, and from the many side roads that lead on to the Cowley Road.
All of these access points in the Carnival area will have road barriers. The barriers will be manned by stewards who will move barriers for disabled access.
There are public toilets on Manzil Gardens. In addition there will be toilet blocks provided at various locations on the Cowley Road. These are identified on the Cowley Road Carnival map, which is on the website and will be displayed and available on the day.
There will be disabled toilet facilities, with appropriate access, in each toilet location.
Disabled access and viewing areas
All surfaces on the Cowley Road, Manzil Way and Union Street car park are tarmac, flat/undulating and there are no cobbled areas. There are grassed areas on Manzil Gardens and in SS Mary and John Churchyard.
We plan to provide a specific disabled viewing area for the procession details and further information to follow.
Carnival maps will be available on the website and posted near the information points on Carnival day.
The Information Team in bright green shirts at the information points and other volunteer stewards in yellow shirts can provide directions and information.
Stewards and volunteers will be briefed regarding Disability Awareness.
A Medical/First Aid facility will be provided at Manzil Gardens
