Join the Procession

Our fabulous procession is a focal point for Carnival Day.

Hundreds or people take part in the mile long spectacle, including community groups, schools and sponsor organisations such as Oxford Brookes University and the Indonesian Embassy also take part.

We are running a series of workshops to help schools and community groups to plan and get the most out of their involvement.

2017 was the most multi-cultural procesion yet – a glorious celebration of the colourful lives and communities found here in Oxford. And 2018 will be even better! Find out more about the groups who will be part of the parade this year.

The procession provides an opportunity to be really creative with costumes, banners and props, get dressed up, get involved and enjoy seeing Carnival from the inside. In some cases we can arrange workshops with experienced carnival artists and dancers to help your group look fantastic and move with confidence and style.

We especially welcome any musical groups which can perform on the move. This year’s theme is icons of art.

Our Carnival procession is fossil-fuel-free, so feet, pedals, batteries and wheels power the procession and any other ingenious method of moving along the road and making sound without burning fossil fuels is welcome!

Applications for Carnival Day 2018 are now open. Please see the links to the form and guidance notes below. To register your interest and for more information please email Simon on
