Join the Procession
Our fabulous procession is a focal point for Carnival Day.
Hundreds or people take part in the mile long spectacle, including community groups, schools and sponsor organisations such as MINI Plant Oxford and the Indonesian Embassy also take part.
We are holding a procession launch party on 2 May at The Venue where you will be able to find out more about how to participate and what is involved. If you would like to come, please register using the link below.
2018 was fantastic and we can’t wait to see what all the costumes and structures in the walking ‘floats’ this year. Our theme is Space is the Place and provides huge scope from the Space Race of yesteryear, the 50th anniversary of the first landing of the Moon, in July 1969, to the future of space travel and science fiction.
The procession provides an opportunity to be really creative with costumes, banners and props, get dressed up, get involved and enjoy seeing Carnival from the inside. In some cases we can arrange workshops with experienced carnival artists and dancers to help your group look fantastic and move with confidence and style.
We especially welcome any musical groups which can perform on the move.
Our Carnival procession is fossil-fuel-free, so feet, pedals, batteries and wheels power the procession and any other ingenious method of moving along the road and making sound without burning fossil fuels is welcome!
If you would like to apply to take part in the procession on Carnival Day 2019 will be open soon. Please follow the link to the form and complete it with your details.
