All the World's a Stage at Cowley Road Carnival 2016

Oxford's own annual Carnival, celebrating the diverse cultures within our city, will adopt the theme 'All the World's a Stage' as part of Shakespeare Oxford 2016, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.  See http://shakespeareoxford2016.co.uk/the-players/

TWILIGHT TRAINING FOR THE PROCESSION, 4-6pm, 3 March 2016: in partnership with Fusion Arts and Pegasus Theatre, hosted by Oxford Brookes University Wheatley campus, this is an introduction to Carnival and the 2016 theme, with key information and guidance to help teachers and other procession group leaders to prepare to make an impact in the Carnival procession – an essential top up for the experienced and inspiration for all! It will include sessions led by a professional carnival artist/maker and a dance tutor on making and movement,   providing transferable skills and practical application of maths and literacy. We'll also give you a resource pack including information on sourcing materials, and an opportunity to exchange ideas  with other procession group leaders.

Cost per group for up to 4 staff/group leaders/volunteers attending: £75

BRONZE & SILVER ARTS AWARDS : If your pupils are interested in taking your Carnival project further, Fusion Arts will be running Bronze and Silver Arts Awards connected with Carnival arts and making. contact Fusion for more information on info@fusion-arts.org

ARTIST LED WORKSHOPS IN SCHOOLS : TocTok Community Arts and UnderConstruction Theatre Company are offering in-school workshops for year 6 children, based on selected abridged Shakespearean plays. A theatre director and movement director would work with your group to introduce the plot and themes of the play, devising related movement for the Carnival procession, and trying out key scenes. Following this, specialist Carnival artists would work in school with the children to create a large processional piece and 30 costumes for your procession group. A refresher pre-Carnival workshop is also available.

Option 1: 2 full creative days with two artists creating at least one large scale processional piece and 30 costumes 1 full day with a theatre director and movement director: intro to themes and plot, devising Carnival movement & trying scenes 1 Pre Carnival refresher workshop     Includes all materials, prep and travel Cost:  £2,180  

Option 2: 1 full creative day with two artists creating 30 costumes. 1/2 day with a theatre director and movement director: intro to themes and plot & devising movement Includes all materials, prep and travel Cost:  £1,150

Additionally : 1 Pre Carnival refresher workshop is an extra £120.
